Abstract

A novel optical heterodyne technique for Raman Ramsey spectroscopy of atomic radio-frequency resonances in an atomic beam is reported. The method relies on coherent resonance Raman transitions to optically excite and probe sublevel coherence in atomic ground states using two separated atom-field interaction regions. First experimental results obtained with the use of Zeeman sublevels in the Samarium λ=570.68 nm (J=1)–(J′=0) transition are discussed.
