1.
The proposed accelerated carburization can be used in practice if the allowances for deformation of some particular sections of the carburized parts are readjusted. In this case the productivity of "Holkroft" carburization equipment can be increased by at least 25%.

2.
Application of preliminary quenchings permits intensification of the carbon saturation of the surfaces in both the standard and the accelerated carburization processes. Preliminary quenchings cause refinement of the transformation layer microstructure and an increase in the residual austenite content in the diffusion layer. Because residual austenite increases the wear resistance it can be expected that the service life of the carburized parts will improve.
