Abstract
The specific heat of the hyperfine-enhanced nuclear spin system in Cs2NaHoCl6 was measured between 0.9 mK and 1.5 K. At about 1.5 mK a sharp peak of the specific heat was observed. Thermodynamic considerations are given. At higher temperatures the result can be understood by the removal of two levels of the Γ3 doublet, suggesting crystal distortion from the cubic structure.
