Abstract

Analytical and numerical techniques are combined to study the flow-driven precessing\(\hat 1\) textures predicted in3He-A by Dow and Hook. Alternating kinks and antikinks precess in opposite directions, at a frequency determined both by the applied supercurrent and the kink length. Maximum dissipation is proposed as the criterion for pattern selection. Solutions are found only in a restricted range of applied supercurrents.
