Flux-flow instability in a type II superconductor

The stability of the flux-flow state in a superconducting slab is studied. The flux-flow kinematics is based on the Boltzmann equation. To investigate the interaction between the flux lines, the relaxation function is derived. The instability of the flux-flow state is associated with the growth of the autocorrelation function at the characteristic frequency of the flux-line collective mode. Thus the “upper critical current value” is obtained.
