Investigation of fractutre of sheet glass by the acoustic emission method

Abstract

The process of fractutre of sheet glass is investigated by the method of acoustic emission. The sensitivity of the method made it possible to distinguish three stages of fractutre. Each stage is characterized in many scales and is shown to have two substages (plastic and elastic deformation). The analysis describes a nondestructive method for predicting the strength properties of glasses in detail.
