Abstract

The results on the possibility of using Sachkher sands in production of glass containers at the Kutaisi Glass Plant are presented. The chemical, granulometric, and mineralogical compositions of the sands are described. Glasses synthesized with these sands possess the required physicochemical and technological properties for producing semiwhite containers. The use of Sachkher sands as composite silicon-aluminum-alkali-containing raw materials at the Kutaisi Plant has led to a 30% reduction in the consumption of standard soda ash and completely eliminated consumption of nepheline and sands from the Avdeevo Deposit.
