Summary
100 women were examined under and after normal labour and the changes of coagulation factors were determined and compared with normal standards.
It was observed, that until after labour there was an decrease in factor XI and an increase of factor XII and a very high concentration of tissue thromboplastin inhibitor. Prothrombin consumption and the number of platelets remained unchanged.
During the placental period factor XI, factor XII as well as platelets remain unchanged. Prothrombin consumption slightly increases whereas the tissue thromboplastin inhibitor still increases enormously.
