Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The addition of zinc (up to 1.5%) increases the resistance of deformed aluminum-magnesium alloys containing 7–8% Mg, 0.2% Mn, and small amounts of Ti, Zr, and Be to stress corrosion.

  2. 2.

The increase of the resistance of aluminum-magnesium alloys to stress corrosion as the result of the addition of zinc is due to a complete and uniform decomposition of the solid solution.
