Abstract
To provide information on the integrability of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov (ZK) equation, we obtain, by a generalization of the direct method introduced by Clarkson and Kruskal, some new similarity reductions ofPDEs and ODEs of the ZK equation which governs nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma. A symmetry group explanation is given by the nonclassical method of Bluman and Cole.
