In Anlehnung an die vonBailey zuerst beschriebene Tropomyosingewinnung wird dieses Eiweiß als Rohextrakt aus nichtschwangeren Uteri und schwangeren Uteri während der Geburt getrennt aus Cervix, Isthmus und Korpus dargestellt und durch Abtrennung der wasserlöslichen Proteine und wäßrige Vorextraktion gereinigt.

Der Tropomyosingehalt des Corpus uteri ist deutlich höher als der von Cervix und Isthmus uteri.

Im Corpus uteri schwangerer Frauen ist der Tropomyosinanteil erheblich geringer als im Corpus uteri nichtschwangerer Frauen.

Der Anteil des Tropomyosins am Gesamtprotein der Uterusmuskulatur beträgt bei nichtschwangeren Frauen in der Cervix 3,48%, im Korpus 6,33% — bei schwangeren Frauen im Isthmus 3,95% und im Korpus 5,07%.

Die Frage der Rolle des Tropomyosins bei der Haltefunktion bzw. dem Muskeltonus der glatten Muskulatur wird angeschnitten.
