Quenching of steels from intercritical temperatures

Conclusions

Anomalies in the properties of the steels investigated were observed after quenching from temperatures 5–10°C below Ac3. Quenching from these temperatures results in higher properties than quenching from standard temperatures. With quenching from temperatures near Ac1 the toughness of the steels is minimal.
