Hydrogen diffusion, electrical resistivity, and internal friction in iron and an alloy of Fe+1.5% Ni

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The addition of 1.5% Ni has little effect on the diffusion coefficient D (and activation energy of diffusion ED) of hydrogen but a somewhat stronger effect on the penetration coefficient P (and the activation energy of penetration EP).

  2. 2.

The anomalous character (jump-like) of the change in the coefficients of diffusion and penetration in the range of the α ⇌ γ transformations in the alloy of Fe+1.5% Ni coincides in character and temperature range with the change in the electrical resistivity and especially the internal friction.
