Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

We established the possibility of strengthening alloy VT3-1 by heat treatment (heating at 850–900°, aging at 450–550°), with retention of high ductility and with an even fine-grained equiaxed structure.

  2. 2.

The mechanical properties of alloy VT3-1 with an equiaxed structure can be improved by MTT (annealing at 800° for 1 h, 1–3% deformation, and aging at 450° for 10 h). The strength characteristics are 8–10 kg/mm2 higher in this case, with retention of satisfactory ductility.

  3. 3.

The creep resistance of alloys strengthened by heat treatment and mechanicothermal treatment is higher than that of samples annealed only once (with cooling in air).
