Bath for electrolytic boriding

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    For electrolytic boriding we recommend a melt containing boron oxide and a component forming a metaborate of an alkali metal with it (Li, Na, K).

     
  2. 2.

    The boriding rate increases with the ratio of B2O3/Na2O from 7 to 16. Raising the current density to 0.7 A/cm2 also increases the depth of the boride coating.
