Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The nonuniformity of the structure of 1Kh14N14V2M steel lowers its working characteristics. Prolonged operation under superhigh parameters induces the decomposition of the γ-solid solution.

  2. 2.

    During use, a ferromagnetic phase is precipitated in the preweld zone. A very thin layer of the base metal near the boundary with the weld seam is strengthened much more as compared to those layers situated at greater distances from the seam. However, at a distance of 7–10 mm from the seam there is a zone where the metal is loosened. We assume that the embrittlement of the steel in this zone is due to the intense development of creep.

  3. 3.

    Austenization of the steel at 1050–1100°C makes it possible to obtain a structure of uniform austenite which ensures mechanical properties close to the initial properties after prolonged use.
