Rolling texture and elastic anisotropy of the Kovar alloy

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Rolled sheets of Kovar have a strong elastic anisotropy. The maximum value of Young's modulus is along and across the rolling direction; the minimum value is at an angle of about 54° to the rolling direction.

     
  2. 2.

    The texture of the rolled sheet is characterized by four equivalent orientations of the {134},\([\overline {485} ]\) type symmetrical with respect to the rolling direction and the direction perpendicular to the rolling direction.

     
  3. 3.

    The elastic anisotropy is preserved during annealing up to 600°C.
