Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Preliminary heating may have a substantial effect on the structure and properties of quenched steels subsequently tempered at higher temperatures.

  2. 2.

A high impact strength in the range of irreversible temper brittleness without reduction of the strength characteristics can be obtained by selecting the optimal parameters of double tempering for steels alloyed with elements inhibiting the decomposition of martensite.
