Conclusion
In cast high-speed steel of the R18 type the eutectic sections are cross sections of eutectic dendrites, although the large volume of structurally free crystals of the primary solid solution (see Fig. 1) and the presence of local temperature and concentration gradients greatly distort the regular shape of the dendrites and induce imperfections in the internal structure.
