Determination of the isotopic composition of hydrogentritium mixtures by emission spectroscopy

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

Abstract

A photoelectric method is described for the determination of the isotopic composition of hydrogen-tritium mixtures using the atomic spectrum excited in a high frequency discharge. Sealed discharge tubes with a ballast volume are used to eliminate errors caused by the adsorption of hydrogen under the action of the discharge. The standard deviation of a single determination is 1.5–2. 0% of the smaller concentration. An analysis takes 30 min, and the sample may be used for its original purpose.
