Abstract
The influence of the chain conformation on the crystallization behavior of cold-drawn syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP) has been investigated. The conformational and structural changes depending on drawing conditions and thermal treatments has been observed by x-ray diffraction, infra-red spectroscopy and modulated differential scanning calorimetry. A nucleation and crystal growth model is introduced, which explains the low crystallinity of cold-drawn sPP.
