1.
The solidification of cast alloys of the Al\t-Be\t-Mg\t-Zn system was investigated in the region of primary solidification of (Be) phase and the precipitation of binary eutectic (Al)+(Be).
-
2.
Phase diagrams were plotted for the cut with a constant concentration of beryllium (20 wt. %) and aluminum (70 wt. %).
Solidification begins at temperatures around 1150°C and is completed at 435–480°C, depending on the relative amounts of magnesium and zinc. A broad region was found (5–8 wt. % Zn) in which the cast alloys consist of three phases: (Be), (Al), and T phase of the Al−Mg−Zn system.
-
3.
The presence of ternary eutectic in the alloys is evidently due to insufficiently slow solidification of phases, particularly the solid solution based on aluminum.
