1.
When sheet metal components made of V95 or D16 alloys are hardened, the permissible time for which articles of different thicknesses may be passed through the air for cooling are best determined from the temperature at the start of hardening. From the data which have been obtained, this temperature can be determined by calculation with sufficient accuracy.

2.
Cooling rates close to water-quenching rates are attained when using the ideal conditions for hardening aluminum alloys in metal (zinc) dies.
