A new method for measuring the osmotic response function of3He-4He mixtures near the tricritical point

Abstract

A new method of measuring the osmotic response function in3He-4He mixtures near the tricritical point is described. The method has been used to measure the tricritical divergence of this quantity in the normal phase. The values of the tricritical exponent and amplitude are in fair agreement with those obtained by other methods.
