Conclusions
-
1.
High-quality nickel coatings that have a high resistance to scoring in vapor at high temperature can be obtained on pearlitic steels by plating for 1.5–2 h and on austenitic steels by plating for 2 h.
-
2.
Hardening by chemical nickel plating can be used for pearlitic and austenitic steels operating under friction conditions but not where subject to erosion.
