Abstract

In the theory dealt with in this article, it is assumed that colloidal particles are smooth rigid spheres, their collisions are instantaneous, the probability of multiple encounter is negligible, and the increase of the probability of collisions depends on the radial distribution function in local equilibrium. A simple formula is obtained for the stability ratio in highly concentrated colloid. Good correspondence between theoretical predictions and experiments is shown.
