Long-term effects of an interplanetary shock on the flux and anisotropy profiles of the associated low-energy particle event

A large energetic storm particle event associated with an interplanetary shock was detected by ISEE-3 on 24 April, 1979. We have studied the effects of this shock on the flux and anisotropy profiles in the upstream region of the particle event, and we have developed a propagation model that permits to reproduce the observations. This model includes particle injection, both at the Sun and at the shock, therefore it allows to study the parameters for the interplanetary propagation of low-energy particles, the particle injection rates, and to relate them to the conditions at the shock front.
