The distribution of quasar absorption line systems — Selection effects

Abstract

The reported correlation between the absorption-line of emission-line redshifts of quasars is shown to be due to selection effects and thus to favour neither the ‘intrinsic’ nor ‘intervening’ hypotheses for the origin of quasar absorption lines.
