Effect of a twisted magnetic field on the equilibrium structure of polytropic and degenerate fluid cylinders

Abstract

The distribution of density and mass within an infinite gravitating cylinder is studied for cylinders made up of both polytropic and degenerate material. The equilibrium structure of the cylinder is found from a study of these properties. The effects of rotation of the cylinder are also considered.
