Abstract

The standard heat of ionization of aqueous benzoic acid has been determined by solution calorimetry. The value obtained for ΔH o of ionization, 0.11±0.04, is in good agreement with ΔH o from other calorimetric values; 0.10±0.05 kcal-mole−1 is suggested to be the “best” value for this ionization at 298° K.
