Abstract
The question of the influence of electronic concentration fluctuations along the line of sight on the dispersion measure (DM) and rotation measure (RM) is under consideration. it is shown that the measuring ofDM andRM enables us to determine the number of electronsN e =∫n e ds and the quantityM e =∫n e H cosθ ds, respectively, along the line of sight in accordance with the general assertion. Under the conditions considered, the conclusion (Lerche, 1970a, b) that the connection ofDM andRM withN e andM e greatly depends on the electronic concentration fluctuations, is found to be incorrect.
