Symmetric periodic orbits in Størmer's problem

Abstract

We analyse the motion of a charged particle in a magnetic dipole field, which provides a basis for discussion, first on the symmetry of the orbits and, second, on the reflection of the particle, as it moves on both sides of the equatorial plane of the dipole.
