Abstract

It is established that, in contrast to Einstein's theory, in the cosmological equations of the theory by Brans and Dicke the spatial component of the field equations follows from the remaining equations and the conservation lawT ik jk=0 only if one excludes the power law ϕ∼R −2. Some consequences are discussed.
