Abstract
The problem of the settling of heavy grains towards the centre of a gaseous globe under the action of the gravitational field of the globe and resisted by the gas of the globe is investigated for the case when the globe is centrally condensed. It is found that the settling time is essentially the same as that for a globe of uniform density (investigated by McCrea and Williams, 1965) when the grains are growing by accretion.
