Summary
A hypertriploid ascitic tumour with a stem-line of 68 chromosomes was maintained in the NMRI mouse over a period of six years and after 270 transplants. The analysis at three successive dates (1963, 1966 after 135 transplants, and 1969 after 270) showed no change in the stem-line value; a slight progressive increase in the frequency of cell elements belonging to the stem-line; was no change in aneuploidy margins in relation to the stem; no change of the metacentric marker chromosome, either in structure or in frequency; the minute chromosomes were present everywhere, but their number per cell is subject to fluctuations in time; no new markers appeared.
