The effect of mass loss on the β Cephei instability strip

Abstract

In this paper we aim to suggest on a speculative basis that the existence of mass loss by stellar wind in massive stars (M>10 M ⊙ ) may affect the properties of the β Cephei instability strip, and remove some of the difficulties encountered in the interpretation of their pulsation.
