Abstract

Routine haematology investigations were carried out on blood samples obtained from 28 clinically normal adult kori bustards (Ardeotis kori) during routine health checks. The results provide the first set of haematological reference values for this species that can assist the avian clinician with the interpretation of haemoresponses to disease and to monitor the progress of patients under therapeutic regimes. A comparative analysis between the results obtained in this study and other bustard species is presented.
