Rheological properties of concentrated cellulose solutions in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide

Conclusions

-- Rheological properties of concentrated solutions of cellulose in N-mcthylmorpholine-N-oxide on varying the concentration of cellulose in the solution from 10 to 28% by wt. have been studied.

-- It has been found that on increasing the cellulose content of the solution, the viscoelastic properties of the solution qualitatively change.

-- In spinning highly concentrated solutions (cellulose content greater than 20%) an abrupt impairment takes place in stability of jet formation; this is connected with a change in supermolecular structure and elastic properties of the solution.
