Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Conclusions

-- The conception of choosing starting polymeric or carbon fibres (CF) for the preparation of fibrous carbon adsorbents (CFA) has been defined. A model of the change in structure of the CF during the activation process has been constructed.

-- From the positions of the formal kinetics of topochemical reactions, a dependence of the rate of activation on degree of activation has been obtained.

-- The sorptive properties of CFA under static and dynamic regimes have been studied, and the coefficients of internal diffusion, mass transfer, and mass exchange have been calculated.

-- Criteria for the selection of CFA for a sorption process have been defined, prospects of the use of combined towers (granule-fibre) have been shown; and possible regions of effective use of CFA have been listed.
