Abstract
Several descriptive acidification models show the appearance of water acidification in soft water areas of the Federal Republic of Germany. The input of sulfuric and nitric acid seems to be the main reason as it is shown for example by Wright's acidification equation.
Critical situations can be found especially during snow melt. Brooks of the Black Forest, Bavarian Wood, Harz-Mountains or the Taunus are within the most endangered water courses, but we fear that all soft-water regions of Germany show already damages.
