Abstract
Hexadec-9Z-enal — a component of the sex pheromone of the cotton bollwormHeliothis armigera — has been obtained by a three-stage synthesis from 9-acetoxynonanal and n-heptyltriphenylphosphonium bromide followed by reduction and oxidation.
