Superfluid vortex motion

Abstract

The two-dimensional path functions are derived for (1) a superfluid vortex subject to unbounded potential flows (of normal and superfluid) and an external force; and (2) a vortex “ring” parallel to a plane boundary. The sign of the phase changes due to vortex flow, and the temperature dependence of vortex damping due to the normal fluid, are discussed.
