Abstract
The volume dependence of the Morel-Anderson prescription for the superconducting transition temperature is calculated. The resulting expressions depend only upon atomic constants, the specific-heat effective mass, and the Grüneisen constant. No undetermined parameters enter. On the basis of the model, the full range of observed pressure dependences ofT c can be qualitatively understood. Quantitative comparison with experiment is made and is generally satisfactory, but a lack of reliable data prevents definitive assessment of the general applicability of the model.
