Magnetothermal oscillations and the Fermi surface of β-tungsten V3Ge

Abstract

Landau quantum oscillations have been observed for the first time in a high-critical-field superconductor with the β-tungsten crystal structure. The data are associated with extremal orbits on three sheets of the Fermi surface, all three resembling 〈100〉-directed cylinders. The results are compared qualitatively with a Fermi surface model suggested by APW energy band calculations.
