Abstract

On the basis of newU BV photometry this paper reports on the discovery of the variability of the B star HR 7556. The ellipsoidal character of the light curve indicates that it is probably a long period (P ∼ 40d) interacting binary. This interpretation has been confirmed by available radial velocity data.
