Abstract
A model is proposed based on electron hopping between octahedral Cu2+ and Cu3+ ions. Exchange interaction is assumed to be an electron-exciton one. Ground-state excitons are formed by freeze-in of the hopping process. The model is able to explain the main phenomena observed in the new high-T c superconductors.
