Abstract

This paper presents the results of experiments which study the behaviour of the copper vapour laser as a function of its major performance parameters: pulse repetition frequency and tube temperature. Explanations are put forward for the factors which limit the output from the copper laser at the extremes of these parameters. Generalized performance relationships and scaling laws are also presented. The experimental results are summarized in a contour map of laser efficiency.
