Summary
Crystals of ammonium (2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehydeS-methylthiosemicarbazonato)dioxovanadate(V), NH4[VO2L], were synthesized from aqueous ammonia solution of NH4VO3 and 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehydeS-methylthiosemicarbazone (H2L). They belong to the monoclinic system, space group P21/a, a=8.344(2), b=14.988(5), c=10.460(3)Å, β=96.408(2)°.
The coordination polyhedron has the form of a distorted square pyramid, with one of the oxygen atoms in the axial position.
Absorption spectra of the complex and ligand were calculated from the measured reflectance spectra by the application of the Kubelka-Munk theory.
The extinction coefficients were determined from the spectrum of the aqueous solution of the complex.
