Abstract
The ultraviolet electronic absorption spectra of 14 chalcone analogs containing a quinoline ring were investigated. The synthesis of some of the compounds is described. It was found that all of the quinoline chalcones studied had distinctive absorption curves with two intense absorption bands which can be used for the identification of these compounds.
