The mechanism of material uptake into a spark discharge plasma

Abstract

The process of electrode material uptake into a spark discharge plasma and the cavity formation mechanism are considered. The layer thickness, volume and mass of the explosively vaporized material, formation time of the elementary event of vapor phase electrode material emission, the number of elementary explosion, and the mass of the vapor phase entering the flame per discharge pulse are computed approximately.
